RWE wins German solar tender
- Developer to develop 16.8 MW project on the site of an opencast mine

RWE has won a solar tender from Germany's Federal Network Agency to build a project at the Hambach opencast mine.
The 16.8 MW RWE Neuland 1 Solarpark will certainly make up around 37,000 solar modules.
The new solar system is to be constructed in the future coast area of the prepared Hambach opencast mining lake.
Based on the providing of the structure permit, RWE might begin operate in summer 2023.
Katja Wünschel, chief executive for onshore wind and solar in Europe & Australia at RWE Renewables stated: "The success of the auction offers us tailwind for the awareness of another solar plant in the Hambach opencast mine.
" It is already the 5th major solar project that we are starting in the Rhenish mining location. Most of them in combination with storage space.
" This is exactly how we are advancing the energy transition in the area."
