RWE Secures 66MW Solar Projects in Poland

- RWE AG scores big win with 66 MW of solar projects in Poland, making a major investment in the country's green portfolio. The move is part of its plan to invest EUR 55 billion net globally and grow its green capacity to 65 GW by 2030.
RWE AG has secured contracts for difference (CfD) for 66 MW of solar projects in Poland, expanding its green portfolio in the country. The CfD contracts were awarded by the Polish Energy Regulatory Office in the latest renewable energy auctions for small and medium photovoltaic projects. Many of the schemes were developed by local company Alpha Solar, which RWE acquired last year. The company already has more than 32 MW of solar farms in operation and over 100 MW of PV projects under construction in Poland. RWE has also announced plans to invest EUR 55 billion net globally and grow its green portfolio to over 65 GW in the 2024-2030 period.
How Has RWE AG Expanded Its Green Portfolio in Poland?
- RWE AG has secured contracts for difference (CfD) for 66 MW of solar projects in Poland, making it the largest solar project in the country.
- Alpha Solar, which RWE acquired last year, developed many of these projects.
- RWE already has 32 MW of solar farms in operation and over 100 MW of PV projects under construction in Poland.
- RWE also plans to build more than 10,000 new solar projects in Poland by 2030.
- RWE will invest around €55 billion in order to expand its green portfolio to over 65 GW in the 2024-2030 period.
- RWE AG has also announced plans to invest in renewable energy storage solutions, to further increase the efficiency of its green portfolio.
- RWE is also looking to invest in offshore wind projects in the Baltic Sea, and build onshore wind farms in Poland.
