  • Danish energy company and also offshore wind major Ørsted A/S (CPH: ORSTED) as well as compatriot renewables programmer Skovgaard Energy will certainly partner to develop a Power-to-X center in Denmark that could reach more than 3 GW of electrolysis capacity, possibly becoming one of the largest in Europe.

The project is tactically located in Idomlund near Holstebro, western Denmark, and will be integrated in phases beginning with an initial stage with an expected electrolysis capacity of 150 MW that will be powered by onshore wind as well as solar. Skovgaard Energy has currently begun establishing both the Power-to-X facility as well as related onshore wind as well as solar. The companies have authorized a letter of intent to jointly continue development.

The location is tactical as Idomlund is expected to be the landfall for a few of the huge offshore wind capacity that EU countries are looking to construct in the North Sea, the companies clarified in a declaration today. This could enable considerable scaling and also large-scale hydrogen exports to support Europe's green transformation.

" Couple of nations have as strong a potential to become a green energy merchant as Denmark because of its bountiful as well as low-priced offshore wind sources, which are supplemented by onshore wind and solar PV," claimed Ørsted P2X chief operating policeman Anders Nordstrom. He added that "Ørsted is going into one of one of the most purposefully useful projects to take advantage of the solid fit between large-scale renewable energy and also Power-to-X."
