Ørsted Powers Meta's AZ Data Centre

Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:META) has announced that its Mesa data centre operations will receive the majority of the output from an upcoming 300-MW solar park in Arizona, owned by Ørsted A/S (CPH:ORSTED). The park, Eleven Mile Solar Centre, will span over 2000 acres and will be coupled with a 300-MW, four-hour battery energy storage system. It is expected to go online in 2021, with any generated and stored power not needed by the data centre made available to Salt River Project (SRP) customers.

Meta also has committed to procure 50% of the output of AES Corp’s 100-MW West Line solar park, which was switched on earlier this year, and will soon also receive electricity from EDF Renewables North America’s 200-MW Brittlebush solar park, to be commissioned in 2024. These agreements demonstrate Meta’s commitment to supporting its operations with 100% renewable energy and achieving net zero emissions for its entire value chain.
