German solar developer ib vogt GmbH has sold a 50-MW/50-MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Finland to London-based renewables company Renewable Power Capital (RPC). The project is in the ready-for-construction phase and is one of the largest of its kind in Finland. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
The BESS project will be located in Uusikaupunki municipality in Southwest Finland and will cover around three hectares of land. RPC, which already has over 170 MW of onshore wind assets in Finland, will oversee the procurement and construction of the project, aiming to complete it by the end of 2025. The project will be funded on a fully merchant basis and will participate in ancillary services and wholesale power markets, providing grid stabilization to support further renewables development in Finland.
