RP Global, Oolu develop C&I solar JV in West Africa with Nigerian debut
- Renewables developer as well as financier RP Worldwide and solar supplier Oolu Solar are introducing a joint venture (JV) in West Africa to serve commercial as well as industrial (C&I) consumers in the region.
The JV, called Westa.Solar, has actually currently provided a 0.5-MWp solar project under the power purchase agreement (PPA) design to Petrichor Industries in Nigeria, mostly financed by Westa.Solar as well as a give from the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Development Office. The agreement is expected to satisfy virtually a quarter of the energy requirements of the product packaging items maker.
"This is the first of what we intend to be several solar energy projects for C&I companies in Nigeria," claimed Kolawole Akinboye, Westa.Solar Nigeria Country Manager. According to him, Petrichor will certainly conserve over NGN 235 million (USD 572,000/ EUR 479,000) over the next ten years thanks to this project.
Westa.Solar means to create and apply a huge pipeline of C&I solar projects in the area over the next few years. It will supply customisable systems that vary in dimension from 50 kW to 5 MW.
