Qair Energises 30-MW Rokietnica Solar Farm, Bolstering Poland’s Renewables Pipeline
- French developer Qair has switched on the 30-MW Rokietnica solar park near Poznań, adding 34 GWh of clean power a year toward its 3-GW Polish target.

French independent power producer Qair has flipped the switch on the 30-megawatt Rokietnica photovoltaic park, its third-largest solar asset in Poland and a key plank in the company’s plan to install 3 GW of capacity nationwide by 2030.
The project lies on 33 hectares of experimental farmland owned by the Poznań University of Life Sciences in the Rokietnica commune, Greater Poland Voivodeship. Built with 54,000 high-efficiency panels, the array is designed to produce roughly 34 gigawatt-hours of electricity each year—enough, Qair says, to meet the annual needs of about 15,000 Polish households while avoiding more than 25,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.
EPC contractor Onde SA delivered the plant on schedule, with long-term financing provided by Santander Bank Polska and PKO Bank Polski. At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by local officials and university representatives, Qair executives stressed the site’s dual role: feeding clean power to the grid and demonstrating how agricultural land and solar generation can coexist. Researchers will continue agronomy trials between panel rows, exploring crop varieties that flourish in partial shade.
“Rokietnica shows that renewable expansion can work hand-in-hand with scientific research and rural development,” said Jean-Marc Terrien, head of Qair Poland. “It also moves us closer to our goal of delivering multi-gigawatt scale renewables that strengthen Poland’s energy security.”
Qair has operated in Poland since 2015, initially through onshore wind but increasingly via solar as equipment prices fell and auction incentives improved. The firm’s existing Polish portfolio tops 250 MW, with additional projects under permitting in the west and northeast.
For local authorities, the plant brings more than green megawatt-hours. Construction created 120 temporary jobs, while ongoing operations will support specialised positions in maintenance and monitoring. Land-lease payments provide stable income for the university, funding further research into sustainable agriculture.
Industry analysts credit Poland’s revamped renewables auction scheme and fast-tracking of grid-connection permits for spurring a record pipeline of utility-scale solar projects. With Rokietnica on line, Qair’s expanding fleet underscores how international developers are seizing the moment—and helping Poland pivot from coal toward a cleaner, more diversified energy mix.
