Qair Brasil Cuts Ribbon on Hybrid Energy Park

Qair Brasil, a subsidiary of French independent power producer (IPP) Qair International, has inaugurated a 429.4-MW solar and wind hybrid cluster in Brazil's northeastern state of Ceara. The project, which costed almost BRL 2 billion, is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power 800,000 homes. In addition, Qair has also applied for a preliminary license for a 280-MW hydrogen project. The company has teamed up with Portuguese utility EDP and CSI Geradores to supply hydrogen generators that will produce electricity for various events in the state. This new hybrid park is the first of its kind in operation in Brazil, and could help the nation in its transition to renewable energy.

What Benefits Does Ceara's Hybrid Solar & Wind Cluster Bring?

  • The hybrid solar & wind cluster brings clean electricity to 800,000 homes.
  • It will produce enough energy to supply hundreds of events in Ceara with hydrogen-powered electricity.
  • The project has the potential to reduce Brazil's emissions and support its transition to renewable energy.
  • It has created jobs in the region, providing economic opportunities for local communities.
  • It has also opened up opportunities for foreign investment in the state, as well as increased collaboration between international utilities.
  • The project has also renewed focus on Brazil's renewable energy potential.
