The U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is inviting public input on a draft environmental assessment for a proposed 117-MW solar project located on public lands in Riverside County, California. Feedback will be accepted until November 4, with in-person and virtual public meetings scheduled for October 23 and 24, respectively.

The Sapphire photovoltaic park, developed by EDF Renewables, will cover approximately 40 acres and is expected to produce 375,800 MWh of clean energy annually, sufficient for over 58,000 homes. The project, which includes a 59-MW/236-MW battery energy storage system, aims to begin operations by December 2026, following a 20-year power purchase agreement with the Southern California Public Power Authority.
