Giving a push to solar power energy, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has floated a tender for empanelment of companies to install 30 MW of grid-connected solar rooftop projects in the range of 1 kw to 1,000 kw. As per the capacity distribution and eligibility conditions for the bidders, the PSPCL has stated that the tentative allocation of 30 MW would be distributed among all eligible bidders in all capacity ranges. The last date for the submission of bids is November 14, 2019.

The projects will be developed under capital expenditure (CAPEX) mode with the net metering facility to create future benefits.

However, the tender also states that the capacity is tentative and the final capacity will vary as per the directions of the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, which will allocate capacity for installing solar power projects.

The selected bidders will design, supply, install, and commission the solar rooftop systems and also provide mandatory maintenance services for a period of five years. The solar photovoltaic (SPV) modules used in the projects will have a warranty for 25 years, which the bidders will have to ensure, the PSPCL authorities have stated in the tender.

According to the PSPCL, two types of bidders would be empanelled through this tender — Category ‘A’ and Category ‘B’ in accordance to work allocation as per the capacity.

The prospective bidders are required to deposit Rs 50,000 as the earnest money in the PSPCL account.

It may be mentioned that the Punjab Government has recently drafted its renewable energy policy, which aims to meet 21 per cent of its power requirement through renewable energy by the year 2030. The policy has set a target of installing 3,000 MW solar projects by 2030.
