Aussie Govt: 930MW NSW Firming Tender
The Australian government has announced a Capacity Investment Scheme to increase renewables in New South Wales to 6 GW. The NSW Energy Roadmap's firming tender will increase from 380 MW to 930 MW and bids representing more than 3.3 GW have already been submitted. Final results announced by the end of September, with the next auction to be announced by October in South Australia and Victoria.

Onde Sells Solar Debut to Engie
Polish general contractor Onde SA has sold its first self-developed solar project, Cyranka, for PLN 75 million to Engie Zielona Energia. The 18 MW Gizycko 1 & 2 solar farms commenced operations this year, with Engie now owning & operating 4 wind farms & 69 small PV parks with 63 MW.

Avaada Closes $1.3B Round for Green Energy Push
Avaada Energy has closed a USD 1.3bn funding round, the largest equity raise for a green energy firm in Asia. Canada's Brookfield Asset Management and Thai power company Global Power Synergy have invested significantly, to be used for green hydrogen, green methanol, green ammonia projects and more. Recent tenders won by the firm amount to 1.8 GW. Sustainable future ahead with Avaada.

Scatec Reaches Financial Close on 273MW South African Solar
Scatec Solar has closed financing on 3 Grootfontein solar projects in South Africa with a combined capacity of 273MW. Construction to begin Q1 of 2024 and estimated to power 100,000 households. Financed by equity and $241m of project finance debt.

UK Announces Lithium Mining in Cornwall

Sonnedix, Cox Launch 160-MW Chile Solar Plant
Sonnedix and Cox Energy have launched operations for their 160-MW Meseta de los Andes Solar Plant in Chile. Construction began in June 2021 and was completed in Spring 2023, with USD 120 million in financing provided by Sumitomo Mitsui Bank Corporation. Sonnedix has a strong presence in Chile, with 1.6 GW of renewable projects in development and 700 MW of capacity in operation.

Matrix Acquires 284MW Solar Project in Texas
Matrix Renewables, a TPG-backed platform, has acquired the 284-MW DC Stillhouse Solar Project in Texas. The project will start construction in 2024 and 6 GW of renewable energy and storage projects are already in the US. Recently, Matrix commissioned a 142 MW DC solar and 80 MWh battery storage project in California.

BlackRock Raises $500M for Oz's Largest Battery

Shell & Solarpack Spark Spanish Solar Deal
Solarpack, a Spanish developer, has signed a 10-year power purchase agreement with Shell Energy Europe, providing 105 gigawatt hours of clean energy a year. BBVA is financing the €38m project to support their commitment to sustainability and renewable energy, reinforcing Solarpack's presence in Europe. Shell Energy Europe is excited to be part of this transition to renewable energy, increasing Solarpack's installed capacity to 14,156MW worldwide.
