Pacific Green to Install 500-MW Battery in S Australia
- Unlocking grid stability and reliability in South Australia, Pacific Green Technologies embarks on a groundbreaking 500-MW/1,500-MWh battery energy storage project in the Limestone Coast region.
British battery storage developer Pacific Green Technologies Inc has received approval to install a 500-MW/1,500-MWh battery energy storage system in South Australia's Limestone Coast region. The project, known as the Limestone Coast Energy Park, will consist of two battery sites to be completed in phases over the next 36 months. Once operational, the facilities will provide four hours of storage capacity to enhance the region's grid stability. Construction is set to begin later this year, with the first phase expected to be online by the second half of 2026.
Pacific Green's Limestone Coast Energy Park is part of the company's larger plan to develop an 8,500-MWh energy storage pipeline across Australia. The project aims to leverage the site's direct connection to an existing 275-kVA substation to support the region's energy needs and contribute to grid reliability.
What is the capacity and timeline for Pacific Green's Limestone Coast Energy Park project?
- Capacity: 500 MW/1,500 MWh
- Timeline: Construction to begin later this year, with the first phase expected to be online by the second half of 2026.
