Pace Digitek switches on 2.5-GWh battery-storage plant in Karnataka
- Pace Digitek opens a 2.5-GWh BESS factory in Karnataka, boosting renewable grid stability and paving the way to double capacity and fund growth via its upcoming IPO.
Bengaluru-based power-management specialist Pace Digitek Limited has commissioned a new factory capable of turning out 2.5 GWh yr-¹ of battery-energy-storage systems (BESS) near Bengaluru, Karnataka. Built and operated by its subsidiary Lineage Power Pvt Ltd, the plant can be doubled to 5 GWh through a planned brown-field expansion.
Why it matters
-
Backbone for renewables: With renewables already supplying ≈65 % of Karnataka’s generation mix, energy minister K J George said large-scale storage is now the critical link for balancing solar- and wind-led grids during peak demand.
-
Local value chain: The facility will assemble lithium-ion packs and containerised BESS units for utility, commercial-industrial and telecom backup, supporting “Make in India” localisation goals.
-
IPO momentum: The inauguration comes three months after Pace Digitek filed draft IPO papers, signalling growth funding for both telecom-infrastructure and energy-storage verticals.
-
Scalable design: Modular production lines and adjacent land banks enable a swift ramp to 5 GWh as grid-scale and behind-the-meter demand rises across South India.
