OX2 Divests 23 MW Agrivoltaic Project to France
- OX2 AB and CVE partner to bring a 23-MW agrivoltaic project to France's Centre-Val de Loire region, producing 29 GWh of electricity each year--enough to power 6,000 homes. Cap Vert Energie takes the lead in construction, aiming to have the project online by 2026.
Swedish renewable energy developer OX2 AB is selling a 23-MW agrivoltaic project in France to French renewable energy producer Cap Vert Energie (CVE). Located in the north-central department of Loiret in France’s Centre-Val de Loire region, the project will install fixed tilt solar panels over a flock of sheep enabling both power generation and farming. The plant is estimated to produce 29 GWh of electricity annually, or enough to power around 6,000 local homes. CVE will take charge of construction and is aiming to have the plant online before the first quarter of 2026. OX2 will record the sale in its fourth-quarter financial report. This follows OX2's previous divestment of a 115-MW wind project in Sweden and a 20-MW onshore wind farm project in Poland to a unit of state-run utility Enea.
What Does OX2 AB's Divestment of French Agrivoltaic Project Mean?
- The divestment of the project shows OX2's strategy to focus on larger and more complex renewable energy projects.
- The agrivoltaic project is the first of its kind in France, combining solar energy generation and sheep farming.
- OX2 will be compensated for the divestment in the fourth-quarter financial report.
- The 23-MW project is expected to produce 29 GWh of electricity annually, or enough to power around 6,000 local homes.
- Construction of the project will be handled by CVE and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026.
- OX2's divestment follows previous deals for a 115-MW wind project in Sweden and a 20-MW onshore wind farm project in Poland.
