Oman awards 500-MW solar project to S Korea's KOWEPO
- Korea Western Power Co. (KOWEPO) has won a contract to develop the 500-MW Manah I solar energy plant in north Oman and prepares to damage the ground on the project in the second fifty percent of 2023.

The contract was awarded by Oman Power as well as Water Procurement Company (OPWP), the sole off-taker of electrical energy from independent power plants in the Sultanate.
The project is among 2 solar plants each with a capacity of 500 MW that will certainly be set up in the north Ad Dakhiliyah governorate regarding 170 kilometres (105.6 mi) southwest of the resources Muscat.
Manah I will require financial investments of KRW 600 billion (USD 460m/EUR 427m), KOWEPO claimed in a statement on Tuesday.
Building work is anticipated to begin in the 2nd half of this year with commissioning planned to occur by March 2025.
The contract consists of an offtake contract with OPWP for a period of 20 years.
Earlier this month, the Manah II project was granted to a joint venture of Sembcorp Industries and also Jinko Power Technology (SHA:601778). This solar plant is expected to start feeding electrical energy into the grid likewise by 2025.
