Nucor, one of the largest steel product manufacturers in the US, has announced a 250 MW solar power purchase agreement (PPA) with a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources LLC. The two-phase Sebree Solar project in Henderson County, Kentucky, is expected to bring an additional USD 20 million in tax revenue to the county over its 30-year lifespan. Nucor is also providing the steel for the project as well as for a second solar site to be built and operated by NextEra in Meade and Breckinridge counties. This is the second PPA signed by Nucor as part of its sustainability strategy, following a 100 MW VPPA with Ørsted Onshore North America LLC in Texas. Construction works on the Sebree Solar project are expected to begin this autumn and the commissioning is due in December 2025.
