NTPC to establish renewables for Indian refiner, launches H2 mixing
- NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL), the green energy organization of Indian state-run power manufacturer NTPC Ltd (BOM:532555), will establish renewables energy projects for Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) revealed on Wednesday by India's Ministry of Power.

The agreement, authorized by the firms in New Delhi on Tuesday, imagines supplying 400 MW of round-the-clock renewable power to deal with the needs of the oil and also gas refiner.
According to the announcement, the MoU marks the start of a partnership on developing renewable energy projects to assist HPCL meet its clean energy commitments.
Individually, NTPC on Wednesday said it has commissioned India's initial green hydrogen blending project in the piped gas network of NTPC Kawas township, Surat, in the Indian state of Gujarat. Blended fuel will certainly be provided to households of the town, with the green hydrogen being produced by electrolysis powered by a 1-MW floating solar project.
The regulator, Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), has accepted the mixing of 5% green hydrogen with the piped natural gas, the company explained. The mixing level is prepared to be scaled to 20%.
The project is a partnership with Gujarat Gas Limited (GGL). It was instated by the Indian prime minister in July 2022.
