Nissan intends 20-MW solar development at Sunderland plant
- Japanese carmaker Nissan Motor Co Ltd (TYO:7201) today announced a proposed 20-MW extension of an existing solar park that powers its center in Sunderland, the UK.
The firm will certainly send an official preparation application later on in 2021. Today, it will certainly offer the project to the regional area.
The project, being established by companion business Engenera, consists of the addition of some 37,000 panels to the existing 4.75-MW solar ranch that was mounted in 2016. Nissan Sunderland also gains from the result of 10 wind turbines completing 6.6 MW that were erected back in 2005.
On the whole, the carmaker will have 32 MW of renewable resource production capacity at the Sunderland plant if the extension is settled, covering 20% of the site's needs. This would suffice to construct every zero-emission Nissan LEAF all-electric vehicle offered in Europe, the business kept in mind.
Nissan intends to achieve carbon neutrality throughout its procedures and also the life cycle of its items by 2050.
