New conversion achievement for bifacial crystalline-silicon i-TOPCon solar cells
- The latest peak conversion rate over 23 per cent for a large version of n-type photovoltaic cells achieved by China-based Trina Solar has been recognized by German ISFH calibration and test center.

Trina Solar, one of the leading Chinese PV manufacturers, has established a new efficiency record – 23.22 per cent for its large-scale bifacial c-Si i-TOPCon photovoltaic cell.
For manufacture of this n-type crystalline silicon cell, an inexpensive industrial process was applied to the P-doped, cast-mono Si material. The cell with an area of 247.79 sq cm demonstrated a 23.22 per cent conversion efficiency. German ISFH CalTeC has approved the achievement.
The new record-setting solar cell is the first two-sided mc-Si device with the efficiency exceeding 23 per cent worldwide, whose record-breaking result has been confirmed by an independent test and calibration center.
Half a year ago, Trina Solar set up another record for 244.62 sq cm i-TOPCon PV cell – 24.58 per cent efficiency.
