Neoen Shines with 119MW Solar Farm Award in France
- Neoen shines bright with 119MW solar projects in France, leading the way in renewable energy innovation and decarbonization efforts.
Neoen has been awarded 119MW of solar projects in the latest call for tenders by the French government’s Energy Regulation Commission (CRE), making it the second largest share in this session. With seven projects ranging from 5MW to 30MW, Neoen remains the top awardee for the whole PPE2 call of tenders that began two years ago, totaling 479MW. The projects will be developed in collaboration with local authorities and stakeholders in the Grand Est, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and Occitanie regions of France, with construction expected to be phased between 2024 and 2028.
One of the winning projects, Lapenne (21MW), will be one of the first solar agrivoltaic plants in the department of Ariege, combining sheep farming and renewable electricity production on the same site to provide diversified revenue for the farmer. Guillaume Decaen, French Development Director, expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their support and highlighted Neoen's role in decarbonizing France's electricity sector. Xavier Barbaro, Chairman and CEO of Neoen, emphasized the company's commitment to developing competitive and value-creating renewable energy projects in France and globally.
Overall, Neoen's success in securing 119MW in this session further solidifies its position as the top independent producer of renewable energy in France. The company's focus on quality solar, wind, and storage projects will drive its growth both domestically and internationally, contributing to the ongoing decarbonization efforts in the energy sector.
