  • Neoen's Isbillen Power Reserve, set to be Sweden's largest energy storage facility, is underway. With Nidec on board, it's expected to go online in Q1 2025, providing vital frequency containment reserve services.

French renewables company Neoen has begun construction on a 93.9 MW/93.9 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Sweden. The Isbillen Power Reserve will be the largest energy storage facility in Sweden and the Nordics, and is expected to go online in Q1 2025. Neoen has given notice to proceed to Japan's Nidec, which will handle engineering and construction and supply the battery containers and inverters. The facility will provide frequency containment reserve services to transmission system operator Svenska Kraftnat. Neoen has a pipeline of over 400 MW of BESS projects in Sweden and 1.6 GW/1.3 GWh of batteries globally.
