- Neoen boosts Finland's energy resilience with a new 56-MW battery system, enhancing grid stability and supporting Fingrid's reserve markets.
French renewable energy company Neoen has inaugurated a 56-MW/113-MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Yllikkala, near Lappeenranta, Finland. This is Neoen's second battery project in the area, complementing its existing 30-MW/30-MWh Yllikkala Power Reserve. The new facility, built by Japan's Nidec, will participate in Fingrid's reserve markets.
Neoen, founded in 2008 and owned by Brookfield, focuses on solar, onshore wind, and battery storage, aiming for a 10 GW capacity by 2025. In August, Neoen launched its first energy storage project in Italy with partner NHOA Energy.
What is Neoen's latest battery energy storage project in Finland?
