Ncondezi concurs land rights for 300-MW solar park in Mozambique

  • African power advancement firm Ncondezi Energy Ltd (LON: NCCL) has secured exclusive land usage civil liberties for a site in Mozambique where it prepares to develop a 300-MW solar-plus-storage complex.

The contract with the nationwide government is connected to a location in Tete Province covering 950 hectares (2,348 acres), Ncondezi claimed on Monday. The site called Direito do Uso e Aproveitamento da Terra (DUAT) is located within a coal-based thermal nuclear power plant and has the capacity of hosting up to 500 MW photovoltaic (PV) capacity.

Ncondezi kicked off a feasibility research study on the project in July 2022 and also completed it 3 months later on, concluding that the scheme is practically viable within the liked location. It expects to make an upgrade on the recommended transmission choices in the next 2 months.

Planned to be installed within Ncondezi Mining's concession location, in the areas of Moatize and Chiuta, the solar farm will certainly supply very first power to the grid from up to 60 MW as very early as 2024. The entire project could be supplied in 28 months, the developer said last October.
