Naturgy Energy Group SA, a Spanish utility, has commissioned a 4.2-MW solar farm on the island of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands archipelago. The Salinetas project boasts over 7,700 photovoltaic modules and is estimated to generate 7.2 GWh of electricity annually. The project was successful in the 2021 SolCan solar programme, led by the Spanish government and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, with Naturgy obtaining aid support for 44 MWp of solar projects. This new solar farm has enabled Naturgy to boast 100 MW of operational renewables capacity in the Canary Islands, with 45 MW currently under construction.
What Has Naturgy Achieved with Salinetas Solar Farm?
