The business is spending around EUR 57 million (USD 54.9 m) in both schemes.

Merengue II and also Puerta del Jerte are the firm's second wind farm as well as third solar park in Extremadura. Naturgy currently operates the 40-MW Merengue I wind farm, while the 22-MW Miraflores solar farm is in the screening phase as well as the 50-MW Las Jaras de Badajoz PV plant is incomplete.

The firm is currently creating 450 MW of solar projects in Extremadura-- the 300-MW Campo de Aranuelo scheme and the Los Naipes, Los Naipes II and the El Encinar I centers, each of 50 MW.
