MIGA Backs BTE Investment in S. African Solar

- Actis' BTE Renewables has secured MIGA guarantee for its equity investments in 75-MW South African solar power plant awarded in Round 3 of REIPPP. BTE Renewables, owned by UK growth markets investor Actis, specializes in utility-scale wind and solar projects across Africa and has been sold to French utility Engie SA and Meridiam.
Actis’ BTE Renewables has secured a MIGA guarantee for its equity investments in a 75-MW solar power plant in South Africa. The guarantee protects BTE Renewables against the risks of transfer restriction, expropriation, war and civil disturbance and breach of contract related to the asset. The solar plant was awarded in Round 3 of South Africa's REIPPP and was acquired from global independent power producer Sonnedix Power Holdings Ltd. BTE Renewables develops utility-scale wind and solar projects across Africa, and is owned by UK growth markets investor Actis. Recently, Actis agreed to sell the platform to French utility Engie SA and Paris-based asset manager Meridiam.
