Masdar Seals $4bn Wind, Battery Projects in Uzbekistan

- Masdar to invest USD 4 billion in Uzbekistan for 2 GW wind farm and 1.15 GWh of storage capacity, enough to power 1 million homes. A further 1.4 GW of solar and wind projects also to be connected to the power grid.
UAE-based renewables developer Masdar has signed an implementation agreement with the government of Uzbekistan to develop a 2-GW wind farm and install 1.15 GWh of battery energy storage capacity. This follows an initial pact that Masdar signed with the government in May to develop 2 GW of renewables and 500 MWh of storage capacity. Masdar's total investment in Uzbekistan will reach USD 4 billion. The wind farm is expected to power around 1 million homes, with 1.4 GW of additional solar and wind projects connected to the Uzbek power grid. The country aims to add 7 GW of solar and 5 GW of wind capacity by the end of this decade.
