Lightsource bp begins developing 112-MW solar farm in Trinidad and also Tobago
- UK-based solar energy manufacturer Lightsource bp stated on Tuesday it had launched building and construction of a 112-MW/148-MWp utility-scale solar project in Trinidad and also Tobago.

The project owners are bp Alternative Energy Trinidad and Tobago (bpAETT) and Shell Renewables Caribbean (Shell), the respective units of oil majors BP Plc (LON: BP) as well as Shell Plc (LON: SHEL).
Lightsource bp took credit for negotiations and development of the project. The company will certainly also manage the construction process on behalf of BP and also Shell, it stated.
The major service providers are Spain's Grupotec Servicios Avanzados SA as well as Trinidad and Tobago-based SDV West Indies.
The solar farm will use up 2 sites - Brechin Castle and Orange Grove. According to Lightsource bp, it is the initial utility-scale solar project for the Caribbean island nation.
Once up and running, the solar farm will certainly produce around 300 GWh of electrical energy each year, or sufficient to power some 42,500 Trinidadian homes, the press release reads.
