- KFC Philippines is taking sustainability to the next level, with over 64 solar rooftops installed, generating 2,600,000 kWh annually and reducing CO2 emissions by 606,164 kg. 80 solar-powered branches planned by 2023, with parking lot solar panels and eco-friendly delivery.
KFC Philippines has installed 64 solar panel-mounted rooftops on its stores, resulting in an estimated annual power generation of over 2,600,000 kWh and reducing CO2 emissions by 606,164 kg. The company is aiming to have 80 solar-powered branches by the end of 2023, and also plans to install solar panels on the parking lots of 22 stores. As part of its sustainable growth, KFC has also implemented initiatives such as using e-bikes for delivery and shifting to more sustainable packaging.
How Is KFC Philippines Reaching Sustainable Growth?
- KFC Philippines is expanding its recycling initiative by introducing a 'tray-to-tray' system, which encourages customers to return their trays after their meal for reuse.
- It has also implemented closed-loop systems in some locations, where cooking oil is collected and recycled to provide bio-diesel fuel for the company's delivery vehicles.
- The company is also making use of energy-saving LED lighting in some stores, and is investigating the potential of using solar cooling systems.
- KFC Philippines is also exploring the use of renewable energy sources such as wind, geothermal, and bio-gas, which it believes will help to reduce the company's carbon footprint.
