Juniper Green's Maharashtra Solar Plant Beats Deadline by Seventeen Months
- Juniper Green energises its 42 MW AC solar plant in Maharashtra 17 months early, securing ISTS savings and marking the first phase of a 75 MW hybrid project.

Juniper Green Energy has switched on the 42-MW AC (59 MWp) solar leg of its Juniper Green Power Five hybrid project in Karanja (Ghadge), Wardha district, Maharashtra. The array was energised on 6 June 2025—an impressive 17 months ahead of its scheduled commercial operation date of 17 November 2026, demonstrating the developer’s knack for rapid execution.
The solar park is backed by a 75-MW power-purchase agreement signed with state utility MSEDCL on 18 November 2024. Finishing long before the deadline allows Juniper Green to claim a 100 % waiver on interstate transmission (ISTS) charges—an incentive India’s government is withdrawing for projects commissioned after 30 June 2025.
Today’s commissioning represents the first tranche of a 75-MW solar-plus-wind hybrid: an additional 26.4 MW of wind turbines will rise on the same site to deliver round-the-clock green power and smooth out diurnal output swings. Hybrid plants are gaining traction in India because they provide a firmer supply profile without new grid build-out, helping Maharashtra inch toward its 2030 renewable-energy goals.
“The early commissioning of our Karanja hybrid project, following the successful delivery of the Chapalgaon plant, highlights our strong execution capabilities and commitment to timely project delivery,” said Ankush Malik, Chief Executive Officer of Juniper Green Energy. He added that consistent on-time delivery is pivotal for accelerating India’s race toward 500 GW of non-fossil capacity by 2030.
Juniper Green now operates 1.1 GWp of renewable assets across India and has made a habit of beating its own schedules; Chapalgaon’s solar farm came online 19 months early earlier this year. Early completion not only secures transmission waivers but also starts revenue flows sooner—benefits that bolster investor confidence as the company builds out a sizeable pipeline of solar, wind and hybrid assets nationwide.
