  • An Egyptian scientist has discovered a new way to achieve optimal electricity generation by hybrid generators with the help of power point tracking. The newly created permanent magnetic synchronous generator for wind-solar is based on multi-input rectifier converters. It is supposed to get rid of harmonic currents with no need for additional input filtering.

A researcher from Egypt-based university has invented an innovative converter configuration for harmonization and maximization of electricity generation by hybrid plants.

The modeling and analyzing technology for grid-tied photovoltaic-wind installations is based on the use of synchronous generators and multi-input rectifiers.

This development is announced to allow avoiding the necessity for additional input filters as well as preventing harmonic currents.

Normally, PMSG are used in wind power plants. They have proven reliable and efficient and achieve maximal power production regardless of wind speed and other working conditions. The advanced hybrid PMSG model is expected to boost power generation in hybrid installations.

The boost converter topology with MPPT controller is stated to decrease terminal voltage when wind is slow and to raise it for strong wind conditions. The scientist claims the integrated topology is suitable for both separate and simultaneous operational activity.

The pattern developed with the help of Simulink SW confirms that the suggested approach achieves the desired result.
