The "greener" RUPTL for the 2021-2030 duration targets a 51.6% renewables cooperate new ability enhancements. There are no plans for brand-new coal beyond what has already been committed or brought incomplete, which is around 14 GW.

The new capability to be set up under the RUPTL is 40.6 GW. As the financial investment capability of nationwide utility PLN is limited, Indonesia intends to enable better engagement of Independent Power Producers (IPP).

The intended enhancements could bring the share of eco-friendly power in the national mix to 25% by 2030. At the end of 2020, it stood at 14% and the country is focusing on 23% by the center of the decade.

"With the price of structure solar power systems is coming to be significantly lower as well as building time quicker, to satisfy the 23% target of renewables mix by 2025, the share of solar energy systems is made larger than in the previous RUPTL. Furthermore, the renewables mix target will certainly be met by cofiring biomass at coal-fired nuclear power plant with due factor to consider of the atmosphere when providing feedstock," power preacher Arifin Tasrif claimed in a presentation earlier today.
