Imerys plans 4.7 MW solar plant to power alumina manufacturing facility in Bahrain
- French commercial minerals manufacturer Imerys S.A. (EPA: NK) has joined Yellow Door Energy to construct a 4.67-MWp solar plant at its white fused alumina manufacturing facility in Bahrain.
Greater than 8,500 photovoltaic panels will be installed on a location of 25,000 sq m (6.17 acres) and will certainly be connected to the inner distribution network of the factory which is operated jointly by Imerys and Manama-based Al Zayani Industries.
The plant is anticipated to create 7.6 GWh of clean electrical power in the very first year of operation as well as meet between 15% and also 20% of the factory's energy intake needs. It will certainly help offset 4,800 tonnes of carbon emissions.
The power will be supplied to the factory under a power purchase agreement (PPA) between Imerys as well as Yellow Door Energy.
Midal Solar has been selected as the design, purchase and construction (EPC) specialist for the project. Construction is readied to begin in the second fifty percent of this year with commissioning expected by 2023.
The project will certainly support the French manufacturer's target to reduce its carbon emissions by 36% by the end of the decade.
