Ilmatar Secures Land for 350MW Swedish Solar

Nordic developer Ilmatar has secured land for a proposed 350MW solar farm in the Swedish municipality of Grums. Through a 50-year lease agreement with landowners in the area, Ilmatar plans to build the farm on 300 to 400 hectares of land. When operational, the plant will be one of the largest in Sweden, primarily built in commercial timber forest severely damaged by bark beetles. Ilmatar's chief executive Christian Gustafsson expressed his commitment to expanding renewable energy production in Sweden, hoping to connect the farm to the main grid as soon as all permits are in place. The landowners of the area, Anders Bergenheim, expressed his excitement about the collaboration and the contribution to the green transition.

What Impact Will Ilmatar's 350MW Solar Farm Have?

  • Ilmatar's 350MW Solar Farm will be able to better monitor solar irradiance and key weather parameters with the AWS810 Solar Edition, allowing for better management of the solar power plant's operations.
  • The 360-degree, always-on monitoring capabilities enable efficient operations at any point in the solar power plant life cycle, from development and construction to long-term operation and maintenance.
  • Remote diagnostics and easy-to-deploy-and-use features allow for minimal resources and costs for set-up and maintenance.
  • The flexible weather station will also connect with SCADA systems and cloud-based asset management platforms, enabling extensive data validation and improved data quality.
  • Optional analytics and insights related to historical satellite-derived solar data, real-time lightning data, and solar energy forecasts further enhance the efficiency of the solar farm.
