- Ilmatar Solar AB is making history with its first solar array in Sweden. With plans to construct and grid connect 55MWp of energy at Knihult, it's set to power 210,000 homes and become a major success in the Swedish market. Get the story behind the project Spring 2024.
Ilmatar Solar AB recently secured permits to begin constructing its first solar array in Sweden. The 55MWp Knihult site will be constructed on two locations covering approximately 54 hectares of land in Knihult, Småland, southern Sweden. The array is expected to start construction in Spring 2024 and grid connection is planned for early 2025. Ilmatar has already leased enough land to generate 4.2 terawatt hours of solar power per year which can meet the electricity demand of approximately 210,000 houses. Ilmatar is excited to see their swift growth in the Swedish market and are confident that the Knihult project will be the first of many successful ventures.
What Plans Does Ilmatar Solar AB Have for Its First Solar Array in Sweden?
- Ilmatar Solar AB plans to build additional solar arrays in other regions of Sweden, and will explore opportunities to expand into other parts of Europe.
- Ilmatar will use the latest advances in solar panel technology to maximize the array's energy output and reduce its environmental impact.
- Ilmatar plans to employ local workers to construct the array and will continue to provide jobs and other economic benefits to the community after the array is completed.
- Ilmatar plans to install battery systems to store excess energy generated by the array, allowing them to generate power when the sun isn't shining.
- Ilmatar will be investing in research and development initiatives to ensure the array uses the most efficient solar technology.
- Ilmatar plans to explore ways to use the excess energy generated by the array to power nearby business and residential areas, further reducing energy costs for the community.
