- HASI and Summit Ridge Energy will partner to develop 250MW of community solar projects in Illinois and Maryland over the next two years. The projects will use US-made solar panels & 20MWh of energy storage from the Hanwha Group-owned Qcells. Investment tax credits and the Inflation Reduction Act will apply.
HASI and Summit Ridge Energy have agreed to collaborate on the development of 250 MW of community solar projects located in Illinois and Maryland over the next two years. HASI will provide financing for the projects, which will use US-made solar panels and 20 MWh of energy storage supplied by the Hanwha Group-owned Qcells. The projects will qualify for investment tax credits and the Inflation Reduction Act. This expanded partnership doubles the size of their existing joint venture, established in 2019.
What are the Details of HASI & Summit Ridge's 250 MW Solar Projects?
- The 250 MW solar projects, developed by HASI and Summit Ridge, are located in the Mid West region of Western Australia.
- Each solar farm will comprise of over 600,000 solar panels and will have the capacity to generate enough energy to power 65,000 homes.
- The projects are expected to be operational in 2021 and will result in a saving of approximately 170,000 tonnes of carbon emissions per year.
- The solar farms will have the capability to store energy with the use of batteries, making them more efficient and reliable.
- The projects will create up to 300 jobs during the construction phase and will generate revenue for the local community.
- The two solar farms will be connected to the Western Australian electricity grid, providing clean, renewable energy.
- The projects are part of the Mid West Energy Hub, which will be one of largest renewable energy precincts in the world and is expected to generate up to 1,500 MW of energy.
