Harmony Energy has efficiently energised the Pillswood project, a 98MW capacity battery energy storage system.

Found in East Yorkshire, the system utilizes a Tesla 2-hour Megapack system, permitting it to accumulate to 196MWh of electricity in a single cycle. This suffices electrical energy to power around 300,000 UK homes for two hours.

The site is located adjacent to National Grid's Creyke Beck substation, the very same link point proposed for phases "A" and "B" of the world's largest offshore wind farm, Dogger Bank, which is readied to go survive on the initial phase in summer 2023.

Batteries enable National Grid to maximise the efficiency of wind farms by reducing the amount of time a wind farm requires to be switched off, 'cut', due to supply/demand discrepancies or network restrictions.

The project was originally planned to become functional over 2 phases in December 2022 as well as March 2023, but the timetable has sped up to enable both phases to energise this month, in time to support National Grid in its efforts to supply stable and protected power to UK houses over the tough winter months duration.

Construction of the Pillswood project has been taken care of by Tesla. The project will be operated via Autobidder, Tesla's mathematical trading platform.

Peter Kavanagh, Harmony Energy Director, stated: "The completion as well as energisation of the Pillswood scheme, the largest of its kind in Europe by energy capacity, is a considerable landmark for Harmony Energy Income Trust, being the initial of six comparable projects the Trust means to supply in the coming year.

" It is also a considerable achievement for Harmony Energy Limited: this project is the 3rd, and also biggest, battery energy storage project which we have established as well as consequently provided through construction.

" All stakeholders have recognised the importance of attaining energisation for this project ahead of winter season, as well as we would love to thank Tesla, G2 Energy as well as Northern Powergrid for their efforts in providing the project ahead of schedule despite a really challenging geopolitical and also international supply chain atmosphere."
