Greenskies completes almost 25-MW solar portfolio for Connecticut utilities
- Greenskies Clean Energy has finished 2 ground-mounted solar installations amounting to 24.82 MW in Connecticut. The varieties in North Haven and Waterford are on-line as well as creating power to offer Connecticut locals with clean, renewable resource through Eversource as well as United Illuminating (UI) utilities.
In North Haven, the 6.14-MW array includes more than 16,500 modules positioned on 21 acres of extra land in any way Saints Cemetery, possessed by the Catholic Cemeteries Association (CCA) of the Archdiocese of Hartford. The Greenskies group collaborated with the CCA to determine unused land with the best possibility for solar generation. The CCA will get continuous revenue from hosting the system, helping them preserve cemetery operations.
The 18.68-MW Waterford solar array contains roughly 44,000 modules positioned on 94 acres of underutilized land previously logged under a forestry procedure.
Greenskies developed, built and funded both solar projects as well as will own, operate and also keep them. The North Haven project links to the UI grid, while the Waterford project connects to the Eversource territory. The utilities will collectively purchase the electrical energy created via long-lasting PPAs.
" Greenskies is pleased to add to a zero-carbon future for Connecticut," claimed Stanley Chin, head of state and chief executive officer of Greenskies. "DEEP procurements are an essential pathway to clean energy more available and budget-friendly. Large-scale solar energy deployments similar to this have many advantages, from the setting to public health and also supplying consumers more secure, reputable energy."
Connecticut's Department of Energy and also Environmental Protection (DEEP) enabled these projects as part of their continuous clean energy procurement strategies. These two projects belonged to the very competitive 2017 Request for Proposals (RFP).
