- Goias celebrates the inauguration of a solar-hydro hybrid energy plant, equipped with 1,800 solar modules and a hydropower generator. The investment of BRL 26 million will benefit the local population and environment, producing enough energy to cover the needs of three towns.
The inauguration of the solar-hydro hybrid energy plant in Goias marks an important milestone in Brazil's efforts to transition to a more sustainable energy model. The facility, which required an investment of BRL 26 million, combines solar and hydropower generation. It is equipped with 1,800 solar modules capable of producing 1,200 MWh per year, as well as a hydropower generator with an output of 4,896 MWh per annum. This combined output is sufficient to cover the energy needs of three towns like Gameleira. The facility is now operational and stands to benefit the local population and environment.
What Benefits Does the Solar-Hydro Hybrid Plant Offer?
- Reduces dependence on fossil fuels, reducing local air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and the impacts of climate change.
- Increases the security of local energy supply by providing a reliable backup in the event of natural disasters or other interruptions to energy production.
- Generates clean, renewable energy, reducing energy costs for local households and businesses.
- Creates jobs in the local community, both directly through the operation of the facility and indirectly through the use of locally-sourced materials and services.
- Increases energy efficiency, reducing strain on the local grid and helping to conserve resources.
- Provides a valuable educational resource to local schools and universities, raising awareness of renewable energy and sustainability.
