  • In control with the airfreight service provider UPS, Flughafen Köln/ Bonn GmbH is mounting a solar system with an output of 1.5 MW on the latter's new hangar.

Furthermore, the roofing systems of a hall had by FedEx and two buildings housing the administration of the airline Eurowings are to receive systems with 700 and 400 kW respectively. The overall financial investment amounts to EUR 2.5 million ($ 2.7 million).

This is not the first photovoltaic project for the airport operator. The very first of the present 7 systems were already taken into operation in 2009. According to Thilo Schmid, Chairman of the Board of Flughafen Köln/ Bonn GmbH, this brings the airport "an action closer to our goal of being climate neutral by 2045 at the latest".
