- Transforming education with sustainable energy solutions, Fresno USD partners with ForeFront Power to save millions and power thousands of homes with clean electricity.
Fresno Unified School District has unveiled a 17.5-MW solar-storage portfolio across 31 district sites, generating 23.5 million kWh of clean electricity annually. The project, in partnership with ForeFront Power, includes solar canopies and energy storage systems, saving the district over $40 million throughout its 20-year lifespan.
The district selected ForeFront Power through the REAP Program offered by SPURR, a Joint Powers Authority of public education agencies. The solar-storage portfolio will cover the power consumption of over 3,000 homes, providing significant cost savings and environmental benefits for Fresno USD.
How will Fresno USD's solar-storage portfolio benefit the community?
- The solar-storage portfolio will reduce Fresno USD's electricity costs, allowing the district to allocate more funds towards educational programs and resources for students.
- By generating clean electricity, the project will help reduce the district's carbon footprint and contribute to a healthier environment for the community.
- The solar canopies installed at the district sites will provide shaded parking areas for staff, students, and visitors, enhancing the overall experience on campus.
- The energy storage systems will help the district reduce its reliance on the grid during peak demand periods, contributing to grid stability and reliability for the entire community.
- The partnership with ForeFront Power through the REAP Program demonstrates Fresno USD's commitment to sustainability and innovation, setting an example for other school districts and organizations in the region.
