Spanish infrastructure company Ferrovial SE has purchased a 257-MWp solar project in Texas, marking its first investment in the US renewables market. The project, located in Leon County, Texas, includes the construction and operation of the solar plant. Ferrovial Energy, a division of Ferrovial, is leading the project and plans to invest USD 72 million in the development.
Construction at the site is set to begin in the current quarter, with the solar farm expected to start generating electricity in 2026. Once operational, the plant is projected to produce around 475 GWh per year. Ferrovial's team is also currently working on a separate 72-MWp solar farm with a 60-MW battery storage system in Houston for X-Elio, a global renewables firm.
