  • Enviromena has completed its first UK solar farm, the 25.4-MW Three Maids Hill project in Winchester, England. The solar park is expected to generate enough electricity to cover the needs of 9,500 homes and was acquired by Blackfinch Energy in 2021.

What happened?

Enviromena has completed its first UK solar farm, the 25.4-MW Three Maids Hill project in Winchester, England. The solar park is spread across 110 acres (44.5 ha) and uses 47,088 bifacial modules. It is expected to generate enough electricity to cover the needs of 9,500 homes, according to a company announcement. The project obtained planning approval in the summer of 2021 and was acquired by Blackfinch Energy in 2021.

Why does it matter?

The completion of the Three Maids Hill project is an important milestone for Enviromena, as it marks the company's first fully consented development site in Europe. The solar farm is expected to make a significant contribution to the UK's renewable energy goals, helping to reduce the country's reliance on fossil fuels and reduce its carbon footprint. The project also signals the potential for further growth in the UK's solar energy sector, as more companies look to invest in clean energy projects.

What's next?

Enviromena is now looking to provide operations and maintenance services for the solar farm, as well as secure further planning consents on solar and energy storage projects in the UK and Italy. The company is also looking to expand its presence in other European countries, as the demand for renewable energy continues to rise. With more companies committing to green energy projects, the Three Maids Hill project is just the beginning of a larger shift towards sustainable energy sources.
