Eni begins work at Tunisian solar farm
- The 10MW project is based in Tataouine
Manufacturing has started at Eni's solar plant in Tataouine, southerly Tunisia, following its connection to the national grid.
The 10MW plant will supply over 20GWh of power annually to the national grid, while ensuring financial savings of around 211,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent over its lifetime.
The electrical power generated will certainly be provided to STEG (Societe Tunisienne de l'Electricite et du Gaz) as concurred via a 20-year power purchase agreement.
The plant was developed by Societe Energie Renouvelables Eni Etap (SEREE), a joint venture in between Eni and also ETAP (Entreprise Tunisienne d'Activites Petrolieres) operating in the manufacturing of power from renewable resource sources.
In Tunisia, Eni likewise runs the ADAM photovoltaic or pv area, with a peak capacity of 5MW as well as which supplies electrical energy to the surrounding ADAM area in the Governorate of Tataouine, therefore permitting gas cost savings in addition to emissions decreases of over 6,500 tonnes of CO2 comparable per year.
