Orange Romania Group and Engie Romania have signed a six-year virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) to provide Orange Romania with 30GWh of solar energy per year. This is part of Orange's overall goal of net zero emissions by 2040, and carbon neutrality for all Romanian companies by the same year. Additionally, Orange Romania kick-started a four year plan in 2020 to install solar panels at 300 network sites and four communication interconnection facilities and data centers. With the VPPA in place, Orange is now on track to reach a 80% green energy level by 2021, in countries such as Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg, Slovakia, Poland, and Moldova.
