Endesa launches 50-MW solar PV park in Spain

- Spanish power utility Endesa SA (BME: ELE), with its renewables unit Enel Green Power Espana (EGPE), has actually commissioned a 50-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) park in the region of Andalusia, southerly Spain.

The project for the new plant, named Sol de Casaquemada, required EUR 38 million (USD 37.3 m) in investments, the firm stated today.
The PV park lies in the municipality of Sanlucar la Mayor, Seville province. According to the utility, the plant is capable generating around 98 GWh annually, or sufficient to satisfy the demand of the entire town for more than 5 years.
Endesa stated that it stays in search of new possibilities in Andalusia as the region is rich in solar resource. At present, EGPE handles 348 MW of renewables in Andalusia, split between 48 hydropower stations, 13 wind parks, nine solar farms as well as one biomass-fired power plant, Endesa included.
