- Power utility Elektroprivreda HZHB intends to develop a 150 MW solar energy plant on the region of Stolac municipality in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Mostar-based Elektroprivreda HZHB means to expand its production mix by developing solar power plants, hydropower plants as well as wind farms, Večernji checklist reported.
Marinko Gilja, basic supervisor of state-owned EPHZHB, validated it is developing the solar power plant project SE EP HZ HB 1 in the area of Stolac, with an overall mounted capacity of 150 MW.
The organized annual production is 244 GWh while the investment is approximated at EUR 92 million.
Stolac is a hotspot for solar power projects, as an overall of 600 MW remains in the pipeline.
Mayor Stjepan Bošković said the regional authority is doing its best to help financiers in photovoltaics. Presently, two nuclear power plant are being developed, he included. One is in the Hodovo business zone, as well as the various other in Komanje Brdo.
The facility under construction in Hodovo comes from Eco-Wat, which intends to apply it in phases. The capacity needs to reach 150 MW.
The project was the biggest in Bosnia and also Herzegovina, but just recently Etmax from Banja Luka received a concession for the building of a 500 MW center.
Herzegovina swamped with solar projects
Herzegovina, the part of BiH where Stolac is located, has a great deal of solar projects, mainly as a result of its wonderful solar capacity. Power plants will be built in Trebinje, Bileća, Nevesinje as well as other districts. Both state-owned electrical power energies and also personal firms are investing in the industry.
Lately, Mostar also determined to sign up with the solar spree, and announced it would install a local power plant. The authorities in the third-largest city in BiH plan to come to be the first to generate electrical energy for self-consumption.
Mayor Mario Kordić stated the power plant would certainly remain in the area of Polog, west of the city. He expects the local government to obtain all the required licenses for the construction of a 60 MW nuclear power plant by the summer.
