ElectraNet seals deal for 100-MW Aussie battery project
- ElectraNet partners with Epic Energy for new 100-MW/200-MWh battery storage system in South Australia, set to power up in 2025.
ElectraNet has signed an agreement for the interconnection of a new 100-MW/200-MWh battery energy storage system in South Australia. The project, owned by Epic Energy, will be located next to a local substation and adjacent to recently-built solar farms. The connection will involve extending an existing 132 kV busbar at Mannum substation to facilitate the cable connecting the BESS facility.
The proposed BESS is the third phase of a larger complex developed by Recurrent Energy LLC, a unit of Canadian Solar Inc, and acquired by Epic Energy. The system will deploy Canadian Solar and e-Storage’s SolBank battery solution based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells. Construction is set to begin this year with the BESS expected to be operational in the second half of 2025.
