Portuguese utility EDP announced plans to establish a 5.1 MWp solar neighbourhood in Portugal, with over 9,000 photovoltaic panels installed on the roofs of the Lisbon International Fair. The project aims to make the buildings self-sufficient during the day and share power generation with over 5,000 local families and businesses.
The EDP Solar Neighbourhood is a partnership between the AIP Foundation Group and EDP Comercial, covering an area of 44,000 sq m on the roofs of four pavilions. Once operational, the solar system is expected to produce around 6.8 GWh per year, contributing to EDP's goal of adding over 100 MWp of solar capacity through energy communities in Portugal.
