EDPR Unveils AZ Solar-Storage Miracle
- EDPR NA DG's 23.27MW solar-storage project in Arizona for Mohave Electric Cooperative (MEC) provides renewable energy, peak period mitigation and greater reliability for the community. Join the ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour on 25th October!
EDPR NA DG has unveiled plans for a solar-storage project in Arizona for Mohave Electric Cooperative (MEC). The 23.27MW(dc) ground-mount solar array system coupled with a 15MW/60 megawatt-hour (MWh) energy storage system will help MEC provide renewable power and mitigate peak period energy use. A ribbon-cutting ceremony and on-site tour was held on 25th October to inaugurate the new solar array. Tyler Carlson, Chief Executive Officer of MEC, stated that this project will increase reliability, meet renewable energy mandates and support the overall electrical grid. Gustavo Monteiro, Chief Executive Officer of EDPR NA DG said that the project is a prime example of how MEC - and cooperatives in general - have the power to provide equitable access to clean energy for its members and communities.
What Benefits Will MEC Get from EDPR NA DG's Solar-Storage Project?
- MEC will benefit from EDPR NA DG's solar storage project by having more reliable power and the ability to mitigate peak period energy usage.
- The project will enable MEC to meet renewable energy mandates and support the overall electrical grid.
- The solar array system, coupled with a 15MW/60 MWh energy storage system, will provide MEC with renewable power.
- The project will enable MEC to provide equitable access to clean energy for its members and communities.
- The solar storage project will also help MEC save money in the long run by reducing their dependence on traditional energy sources.
